Research Experience

  • May 2011 – present: Postdoctoral fellow, University of Waterloo, BBCR group, with Prof. Sherman (Xuemin) Shen (University of Waterloo) and Prof. Xiaodong Lin (University of Ontario Institute of Technology). My duties include doing research, helping grad students, organizing meetings, and helping in writing funding proposals.
  • September 2006 – April 2011: Research Assistant, Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Waterloo, under the supervision of Prof. Sherman (Xuemin) Shen. I have worked on securing wireless networks. My duties include doing research, organizing group meetings, and giving talks. Mobile ad hoc and multihop cellular wireless networks.
  • November 2010 – May 2011: A member of the self-study committee, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Waterloo. The objective of the committee is to evaluate the performance of the department regarding research, and to propose recommendations (or overview), with the goal of improving the performance in the coming five years.
  • June 1999 – September 2006: Research Assistant, Shoubra Faculty of Engineering, University of Zagazig (Banha branch), Cairo, Egypt. I worked on natural language processing, machine-aided translation, expert systems, and artificial intelligence applications.
